An important point in chapter 3 is to give the children information on new vocabulary words. I remember when I was in school. The teacher always made us write the word 5 times, make a sentence with the word, and have a spelling test at the end of the week on the new words. did we actually learn anything? I know I really didn't. I did learn to count to 5 and I did learn to spell the word correctly long enough for that week to make the grade. Teachers need to incorporate the new vocabulary words into the classroom. Focus on the words and use them during the week. Use them in the class for the rest of the year. Talk about the words to the children. Find creative ways to use the words.
