I would like to thank the wonderful 3 group members I worked with this semester. This has been the most positive group experience I have had. I loved all the ideals each member shared with our group. I enjoyed our personal conversations as well. I would love to work with you guys in the future if we have other classes together. I believe our presentation was great. We all worked hard on it and the outcome was wonderful. Thank you for picking the genra. Thank you for the beautiful drawings. Thank you for the story reader.

read alouds

I think the read alouds are wonderful. When a teacher is excited to read a book the students are often excited too. I think the ideal of getting the students to relax and the teacher reads helps the struggling readers. I do not read my son bed time stories ( because this guy would only not go to sleep) I read to him in the afternoon. The baby loves it! We go outside with a snack and sit on the grass. He is only 12 months old. He sits there and listens to the story. He smiles at funny parts I am reading. He sometimes touches the book and points to the words on the page. I am sure all children love to be read to. I think an important key to remember is making the area comfy and sounding interesting as you read.

Barbara Lynne Park

Junie B. Jones is a children's series of books. The books are written by Barbara Lynne Park. The age is for elementary students. The books are funny and children find them interesting. Junie B. Jones is first introduced as a kindergartner and is currently a first grader. Barbara Park has won seven Children's Choice Awards, and four Parents' Choice Awards. She has also written many middle grade novels. Such as The Kid in the Red Jacket.

I think reading out loud to children is important. I remember in kinder,1st,2nd grades we use to order books from scholastic; however, we were always told to put them in our desk and look at them later or at home. Well "later" in class never came and "at home" kinda got lost in my parents routine schedule. It wasn't until 3rd grade that my teacher Mrs C. introduced reading for for and enjoyment. She read Beverly Clearly books to the class. My favorite was Henry, Ribsy, Ralph the mouse, and Romona. I thought the teacher was cool and it encouraged me to read on my own. Before that experience I assumed reading was something you had to do to get a good grade in class. It never occur ed to me that people read things for fun! The teacher often took us to the library to check out fun books to read. This teacher was the only teacher I ever encountered that did this. The other teachers only took us to the library to pick out a book for a book report ect. You knew the routine and what was expected to get a good grade. I hope more teachers out there take the time to read to their students. One person can make a difference. We went to the library every Friday. I spent my boring weekends ( only child) reading fun books! The teacher said we could write her letters over the weekend telling her all about any books we read. I could not not wait to read my book and I loved the ideal of writing the teacher a letter about the books. She always responded back! Looking back on it now I realize it was all a cleaver trick to get the kids to read!

Non fiction books are great! They sure have changed since I was a kid and hated reading the boring things. I think these wonderful new books are so fabulous for children to learn and most of all enjoy! Wow what a concept for some genius to create! Books for children that they enjoy reading and can learn from!

ch9& class discussion

I probably won't ever forget tonight's discussion on the stiletto stoners. Personally I do not smoke pot, cigarettes, drugs, or even drink. I did recently find out an acquaintance of mine decided to tell me she smoked pot all through her pregnancy! I was shocked and her view about it was very differently from mine! She is from California and apparently the area she is from this is common practice! When I told her about the dangers of smoking pot while you are pregnant she looked at me as if I was speaking a foreign language! I am amazed at the different attitudes people have on these types of issues. I do think information should be given to students on the dangers of these types of things just in case the children are coming from a household like my acquaintance!

ch8 fiction

I enjoy fiction books. I found it interesting to see what type of fiction books other classmates enjoy reading. I noticed there was a wide variety of interest. I am sure it is the same for children in a classroom. I personally do not enjoy romance books; however, I notice a classmate said she loved to read about love stories that never really happen. lol I noticed some people enjoy scary stories! I recently worked at a children's home. The children were toddlers ( age 3-5) and they also enjoyed this scary stuff! The kids liked Goosebumps. I was shocked! They would sit there glued to the tv gobbling up chili and popcorn. The kids would listen to the books too! hummm I believe these books were not meant for toddlers but the staff there read it to them all the time and the kids were never scared! Maybe I'm a chicken. Sometimes as a small child I was often scared of The Count on Seseme Street!
